Get ready to run to the music at the Houston Rhythm and Blues Half Marathon, where rhythm and blues bands from all over Texas bring the music and fun to the 6th annual run in February 2017.
The half marathon starts at Sam Houston Park, and the course takes runners west on Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive. The race course consists of a quarter marathon loop; half marathon runners will run this loop twice. This ensures runners will get more frequent encouragement through the bands performing on the course, as well as through cheering sections.
In addition to the half marathon, a quarter marathon and 5K are also available. Don’t run for a living? No problem — the random prize draws after the race mean you could win something even if you aren’t a speed machine. A costume contest adds to the fun of the race, so go ahead and break out the costume. You might win a Best Costume prize.
The proceeds of the Houston Rhythm and Blues Half Marathon support local charities such as Free Shoes for Houston, APHON, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
