Welcome to the 2024 Illinois Race Weekend, an incredible three (3) day event comprising several running races including the Illinois Marathon, Marathon Relay, and Half Marathon as well as the 10k, 5k, Youth Run, and 1 Mile. PR Chasers. Largely fast and flat, the Illinois Half Marathon course is an ideal race to register for those looking to PR on their next half marathon attempt.

Starting and finishing on the University of Illinois Campus, the Illinois Half Marathon, in particular, begins nearby the State Farm Center and sends runners throughout the University Campus as well as neighboring suburbs including Champaign and Urbana. Starting on 1st Street, runners head north, taking a right on Green and Main Street. Heading south now along Cottage Grove and Washington Street, runners proceed toward Shore Creek Blvd. Onto Amber Lane and McHenry, runners will reach mile 9 where they’ll continue past Stone Creek Church and the Bank of America, turning left onto Pennsylvania, before reaching the finish line that will take place at the 50-yard line inside Memorial Stadium! The course will be closed for 3 hours 30 minutes. This doesn’t mean, however, that slower participants are disqualified. Rather, you can continue for however long it takes to complete the course, however, traffic will be allowed onto the course after the 3 hour 3 minute time limit has expired. All registrants will receive a goody bag comprising your race bib, race shirt, and other epic event swag. After the race is complete, all participants are encouraged to stick around for the 27th Mile Celebrate Victory Bash where you can kick back, relax, and enjoy the fruits of your labor. Free alcoholic drink tickets, live music, and more can be expected!
