Overview

The Kahakuloa Half Marathon & Relays returns for its exclusive Maui-based road race experience. Limited to just 200 participants (including individuals and 2- and 4-person relay teams), the event weaves together rich Hawaiian culture, epic coastline vistas, and meaningful community impact—proceeds benefit the historic Kahakuloa Congregational Church.

Starting at 6:00 AM HST from Fleming Beach in Kapalua, the point-to-point course follows Kahekili Highway, tracing rugged clifftops, vivid ocean panoramas, and rolling hills toward the charming finish line in Kahakuloa village. The route demands respect—while not flat, its scenic elevation gains deliver a big reward: Panoramic ocean views rivaling Big Sur, according to Runner’s World comparisons.

Relay options (2- or 4-person) break the route into manageable legs—just be sure to arrange your handoff logistics and shuttle plans in advance. Packet pick-up takes place the afternoon before at Fleming Beach, and race-day shuttles are available—but spots are limited and must be reserved early.

Once you cross the finish in Kahakuloa, the local community greets you with live Hawaiian music, a hearty breakfast, custom race shirts and medals, and the inviting warmth of church-supported celebration.

Runners appreciate the blend of challenge and charm. As one local athlete shared on Instagram:

“Kahakuloa Half Marathon 2025 done! Took 3rd place in my age division, which is sorta rad—13.1 miles of hills and the most gorgeous views ”

This is not a PR course—but for those chasing unforgettable scenery, cultural immersion, and community spirit, it delivers a Hawaii road race like no other.
