Saturday, September 9, 2017 • River Falls, WI • Course Map

Set for its 6th annual running as summer is transitioning to fall here in this small western Wisconsin city along the banks of the Kinnickinnic River — often called the Kinni River for short — the Kinni River Trout Trot added the half marathon distance for the first time in 2011, after its first two years were run with 10K, 25K and 20-mile distances.

From the starting line at River Falls High School, runners in each of the three races will follow point-to-point course that winds through the city and finishes in Glen Park, which lies on West Park Street, just west of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls campus.

Along the way, this largely level course will be filled with rolling hills and flat stretches, and will be run on a combination of mostly paved roads through the city’s downtown and residential neighborhoods, as well as some stretches of park trails through Hoffman Park and Glen Park.

The only significant hills of the race occur between the mile 2 and 4 markers, as runners are heading through the trails that wind through Hoffman Park.

After runners make it through the park, most of the rest of the race is run on paved city streets and county roads just to the northwest of the city, with the exception of one last stretch of trail through Glen Park in the last three miles of the race.

Proceeds from the race go to help the locally based Our Neighbor’s Place homeless shelter pay off the remaining mortgage on its building.
