Follow a course that unfolds along the twisting, winding Colorado River on the border between Nevada and California at the Laughlin/Runnercard Half Marathon & 5K, a mostly flat race event that is run over a packed dirt and gravel course.

Set along the northwest side of the Avi Resort and Casino in the Mojave Valley, the race welcomes more than 200 runners each year for the 13.1-mile half marathon and the 5K combined.

Really more of a trail race than a road race, the course for the Laughlin half marathon captures the signature sights and scenic views of southwestern Nevada and the Arizona desert.

Dusty dirt trails form the terrain for much of the race, while the peaks of nearby mountains like Mount Manchester to the west rise above the horizon in the distance. And the area is sparsely populated — as well as being free of car traffic — to add to the feeling of being out away from it all.

The course follows and out-and-back loop that starts near the resort and takes runners northward, running entirely along the riverbanks, until reaching the 6.55-mile mark, where participants then turn around and make their way back to the finish line.

The location of the starting line for the race — at 10000 Aha Macav Parkway in Laughlin — is about a 90-minute drive from Las Vegas.
