“Prepare to leave dirty.” That’s the advice that the organizers of Peninsula’s Leave No Trace Trail Half Marathon have for the runners who’ll head into the winding single-track trails of northeastern Ohio’s Cuyahoga Valley National Park, for a race that makes its 13th annual running this year.
A smaller-sized event that draws a few hundred runners each year, the Leave No Trace race follows an out-and-back route that starts and finishes at Camp Manatoc, a Boy Scouts of America camp that’s located in the heart of this 51-square-mile national park that takes its name from the river that flows through the middle of its forests and trails, the Cuyahoga River (which means “crooked river”).
