The races are USATF-certified loop courses over paved roads and around 3 to 4 miles of gravel. For their safety, runners are advised to run single file and refrain from listening to music, as the courses will be open to traffic. There will be aid stations with water and Gatorade every 2 to 3 miles. There will also be portapotties at the start/finish line and along the course.
Registration opens on September 29, 2023. The cost is $110 for the full marathon and $85 for the half marathon, plus processing fees and tax. All participants receive a long-sleeved tech shirt and finisher’s medal.
The event is in support of the Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve, a non-profit dedicated to protecting the island’s natural areas. Runners have the option to contribute to the cause during registration — donations will be honored during the post-race awards ceremony.
