Runners will start the Maple Run Half (and the 5K) in Taylor Park, which lies just off Miner Street Road, a little south of Canton. From there, you’ll head out onto the rural roads and highways that criss-cross through the countryside south of town, making your way along Miner Street Road, Eddy Pyrites Road, County Road 21, Highway 25 and County Road 27.
After that, you’ll head back into town, passing by the campus of St. Lawrence University as you run through Canton, along Maple Street and Miner Street, before turning back onto Miner Street Road for the stretch that heads south, back to Taylor Park.
It’s funny, but it’s true: the race’s slogan is “Run fast, turn left” — all of the turns in the race are left turns, as you’ll essentially be making a counter-clockwise loop route for the half marathon through the rural areas south of Canton.
Note that this race will be a relatively low-key affair; it won’t be chip timed, though a timing clock will show the elapsed time from the race start.
