Overview

Each fall, Buffalo Run Adventures stages the Mountain View Trail Half Marathon at Antelope Island State Park, near Salt Lake City. This boutique trail race returns in either early November (e.g. Nov 1, 2025) with a crisp morning start—traditionally at 9:00 AM MDT—from the Fielding‑Garr Ranch to White Rock Bay, offering panoramic views of the Great Salt Lake and Wasatch Mountains.

Trail Experience & History

Over its 15+ year history, Mountain View has built a reputation for scenic, fast single-track—ideal for casual and experienced trail runners alike. The out-and-back course features roughly 515 ft of climb, with the first ~11 miles on smooth single-track and the final stretch along dirt road to the bay. Aid stations are positioned around miles 4, 6, 7, and 9 for consistent hydration support.

Buffalo Run’s signature hospitality includes race‑day logistics, post-race chili at the finish line, a tech shirt, finisher mug/medal, and a free entry to the park. Fields are capped small to moderate—typically 100 to 500 finishers—ensuring friendly vibes and unobstructed trails.

What Makes It Unique

This half marathon is rare: a trail race on a Utah island with panoramic lake vistas, low-key production, and consistent aid. The finish at White Rock Bay amid dunes and shoreline gives it a distinct desert-edge flavor. A dash of local tradition (buffalo chili at the finish) and exclusive entry to a state park elevate the experience.

Course Description

The first couple of hundred yards will take you to the Mountain View trailhead. After that it’s just head south on the trail. There will be two aid stations that you will go past twice, so an aid station every few miles. There will be a sign at the turn around. We may also have a volunteer to help out at the turn. The new course means maybe there will be a bit less vert. That’s all there is to it. Pretty easy.
