Overview

Saturday, September 14, 2019 • Muncie, IN

Open to both runners and walkers, the 17th annual Muncie Mini Marathon takes participants on an out-and-back tour of this eastern Indiana city that’s perhaps most famous as the home of both Ball State University and the Ball Corporation, the makers of the famed Ball glass canning jars.

The race takes place at the nearby Prairie Creek Park, specifically taking runners around the reservoir that gives the park its name. Starting out from the eastern side of the park, the course takes runners on an all-paved road course along the southern and eastern parts of the reservoir, providing an enjoyable view of the reservoir in what is typically pleasant weather in mid-September as summer is ending and giving way to fall.

Half marathon runners will complete two out-and-backs to finish the 13.1 miles, while 10K runners will complete one out-and-back. 5K participants will complete a partial out-and-back.

Race Weather & Climate

Located in eastern Indiana, just over 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis and roughly 100 miles northwest of Cincinnati, Ohio, Muncie typically sees mild to warm weather in September, which is one of the city’s drier months of the year.

On race day (Sept. 14), the average low is 56ºF and the average high is 78ºF.
