This year’s race promises to be an exciting celebration of community, athleticism, and the spirit of giving. Shoe4Africa is a charity organization with a dedicated focus on improving health and education outcomes in Eastern Africa. Over the years, the charity has successfully raised funds for various initiatives, including hospitals and other essential building projects. The heartwarming aspect of Shoe4Africa is its unique approach to fundraising, which involves runners from around the world participating in marathons and road races, raising funds as they run. The event, hosted by the Moreno Valley Road Runners Club, is set to continue its tradition of excellence in Southern California. The 6th Annual Shoe4Africa fun run welcomes participants of all ages and fitness levels, ensuring that there’s something for everyone. For the youngest runners, there’s a 1-mile kids race designed for children aged 12 and under, and an adorable Trotters run for the littlest racers, aged 3 and under. The inclusive spirit of the event welcomes all to join in the fun. The historic course along the Lake Perris Dam promises a picturesque backdrop for the race, with views of the stunning lake and the serene morning setting the scene for a memorable day. The course starts and finishes at the Dam, with the 21K Half Marathon runners completing the 5K course four times. Participants can look forward to a flat and scenic course free from traffic, providing an ideal setting for both seasoned runners and newcomers. The race day schedule is packed with exciting activities. The Half Marathon kicks off at 7:00 am, followed by the little trotters run at 8:10 am, the kid’s 1-mile race at 8:15 am, and the 5K and 10K races at 8:30 am. Awards await the top performers, with the top 3 boys and girls receiving recognition in the 1-mile race, while the top 3 open males and females will be awarded in the 5K and 10K races. The Half Marathon will feature cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers, with the 1st place receiving $300 and a trophy, the 2nd place earning $200 and a trophy, and the 3rd place getting $100 and a trophy. All participants will receive medals to commemorate their achievement, and the first 50 sign-ups will receive a race t-shirt. Registration fees are as follows: little trotters (ages 3 and under) are free, the kid’s 1-mile race costs $5.00, the 5K is $20.00, the 10K is $25.00, and the 21K is $50.00.
