From the starting line at the Gould Hill Farm in nearby Hopkinton, a small town of just over 5,700 residents to the west of Concord, runners make their way east along Hopkinton Road and Currier Road, running through Hopkinton’s Main Street and past Kimball Lake.
Much of the course’s first half is rural, giving you a great view of the fall foliage that will be at its peak on half marathon day. With trees lining much of the course, shades of red, yellow, and orange will follow you throughout the entire course.
The course starts showing signs of city life near the mile 9 marker, as runners head closer to downtown Concord to the east into town. The course makes its way around the edge of the Horseshoe Pond before the final mile stretch into the finish line, in front of the New Hampshire State House on Main Street.
There will be 6 water stops during the race, organizers note — at the 2-mile, 4-mile, 6.2-mile, 8-mile, 10-mile and 12-mile markers.
