Saturday, May 21, 2016 • Delaware, OH
Runners get the chance to enjoy a small-town atmosphere in a city that’s nonetheless one of Ohio’s (and the nation’s) fastest-growing counties at the all-new New Moon Half Marathon & Quarter Marathon, which is set to make its inaugural running as the sun is going down on Saturday May 21, 2016
The race is open to both runners and walkers and is run as a benefit for the American Lung Association of Central Ohio, which is based in nearby Columbus, just 30 to 40 minutes away. Runners will start both the half and the quarter marathon along North Sandusky Street between Winter and Williams Streets in downtown Delaware, a town whose history dates back to 1807 and is home today to about 35,000 people.
From the starting line on North Sandusky, runners (and walkers) make a counter-clockwise loop through town, making their way along Pennsylvania Avenue, Euclid Avenue, West Lincoln Avenue, Liberty Street, Oak Hill Avenue, Montrose and Park Avenue, before heading back to Sandusky for the half-way point of the half marathon (and the finish line for those running the quarter marathon).
Once runners make it back to Sandusky, the half marathoners will repeat the route they just ran — past the Little Brown Jug, the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University, and then back downtown for the finish.
