Participants will traverse through the forest, witnessing breathtaking views of the river hundreds of feet below, before looping back to the starting point. With significant elevation gain, each race option provides a difficult yet scenic course that showcases the beauty of the New River Gorge National Park.
The 50k course follows the same path as the Half Marathon, featuring two loops with a scenic out-and-back segment along the rim of the gorge. With nearly 3,500 ft. of elevation gain and loss on trails, the 50k promises a challenging course that will push runners to their limits, all while offering spectacular views of West Virginia’s natural landscape.
For those opting for the Half Marathon, the trail system of the National Park provides a challenging yet scenic route, primarily consisting of dirt and gravel surfaces. Runners will be treated to stunning vistas of the New River Gorge Bridge along Fayetteville Trail and will have the opportunity to admire the gorge below while traversing over Kaymoor Top.
Even the 5K course offers a thrilling experience, as participants run under the longest single span arch bridge in the western hemisphere. This challenging trail features a point-to-point route with dirt single-track, boasting nearly 500ft of elevation gain and over 700ft of elevation loss.
