You don’t have to be wealthy to soak in the splendor of Newport’s craggy cliffs, ocean breezes, and opulent mansions during the Newport Rhode Races Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K & Beach Mile.
Newport’s historic mansions were built during America’s Gilded Age—between the 1850s and early 1900s—as summer homes (understatedly described as “cottages”) for such monied tycoons as the Vanderbilts, the Astors, and the Morgans.
The Preservation Society of Newport County now owns and maintains many of these splendid homes, but Newport itself remains a popular summertime destination for the well-heeled.
To add to the beauty, the race precedes the Annual Newport Daffodil Days Festival, which pays tribute to the 1,200,000 springtime daffodils beginning to bloom.
This race is a stunning opportunity for racers to traverse this playground of America’s rich and famous.
