The rolling hills of northern Clark County along the Lewis River serve as the setting for the North County Wine Run Half Marathon & 5K, a race that starts and finishes in nearby Battle Ground and takes runners on a loop course through the rolling farm fields and vineyards of one of the Pacific Northwest’s emerging wine-growing regions.

Runners start the out-and-back course for the race in front of Battle Ground’s Rusty Grape Vineyard on NE 167th Avenue. From there, they’ll head south on NE 167th Avenue before turning left onto NE 219th Street and left again onto NE 182nd Avenue.

Next, they’ll follow NE 182nd Avenue until reaching Battle Ground Lake State Park, where the course continues west onto Palmer Road surrounding the park. The course continues southwest along Heisson Road before turning right onto 142nd Avenue. Here runners will pass Olequa Cellars, another known local winery while continuing north through nearby Lewisville.

After turning right on 279th Street, runners will continue through nearby Heissen while passing Heisen House Vineyards. Once at Heissen Road, runners continue south toward finish line, retracing their route from the first two miles after passing the park again.

Overall, the course is hilly with many ups and downs, with the first and last thirds of the course featuring particularly steep and high hills.
