Note: The 2022 race has been canceled.

Set for its 46th annual running through the streets of a city that’s perhaps most famous as the hometown of famed investor Warren Buffett as well as the home of the NCAA College World Series baseball tournament, the Alpha Win Omaha Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K takes runners on an out-and-back tour of the city.

The race — which saw more than 3,500 runners cross the finish line in all three races combined at its 2014 running, including more than 2,100 finishers in the half marathon alone — follows an out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Omaha’s TD Ameritrade Park, the baseball field that serves as the home of the annual NCAA baseball tournament as well as the home field for Creighton University’s Blue Jays baseball team.

From there, the course for the half marathon unfolds along a course that’s shaped roughly like a figure-eight, with the first half of the race taking runners through the neighborhoods north of the starting line (with names like Conestoga and Carter Lake).

The second half of the race unfolds through the districts south of downtown, including Old Market, Little Italy and Deer Park, and a stretch that brings runners through a section of Heartland of America Park along the river.

Other stretches take runners past Omaha landmarks like the Lewis & Clark Landing along the river and the Henry Dourly Zoo. The scheduled starting time for the half marathon is 7:45 AM.

Race Weather & Climate

Located along the Nebraska-Iowa border in the eastern part of the state, about 50 miles northeast of Lincoln and roughly 190 miles northwest of Kansas City, Mo., Omaha typically sees mild to moderately warm weather in September, which has brought record temperatures here as low as 28°F (in 1984) and as high as 104°F (in 1939).

On race day (Sept. 18), the average low is 52ºF and the average high is 76ºF.
