Overview

Brought to life by High Tide Runs / CaliFlow Runs, the Crazy Hat Run returns to Long Beach on Saturday, August 23, 2025, offering runners and walkers fun-themed distances—5K, 10K, 15K (10-miler), and a half marathon—that blend beachside views with costume creativity.

As the title suggests, participants are encouraged to don their most outrageous headwear—perfect for the official crazy hat contest, where winners receive gift cards—creating an upbeat, playful atmosphere that lifts spirits and photos alike. The course follows a flat, paved out-and-back along East Ocean Boulevard starting at 5400 E Ocean Blvd, making it accessible for PR chasers and casual participants alike.

Expect a 7:30 AM start for the 5K/10K/15K, with the half marathon kicking off at 7:00 AM, all finishing around mid-morning. Cutoffs extend to 11:00 AM, offering a relaxed, beginner- and stroller-friendly environment.

Runners benefit from clear course markings, a welcoming community vibe, free race photos, and time chips. Plus, the low registration entry—under $50 (for similar races)—makes it an affordable August option.
