PBR SwimRun Knox & Trail Run 5K / Half Marathon – Knoxville, TN
Scheduled for Sunday, June 1, 2025, this multidisciplinary event has quickly become a standout in Knoxville’s active calendar
History & Format
Produced by Personal Best Racing & Knoxville Track Club, SwimRun Knox originated as a specialty multisport event and in 2025 introduced a new Half Marathon run-only option, expanding beyond its signature swim‑run courses. Runners can now choose from a standalone half marathon trail run, a 5K trail, or the traditional short and long swim‑run formats.
What Runners Can Expect
Set in Mead’s Quarry and the Ijams Nature Center, within Knoxville’s “Urban Wilderness,” the course features natural terrain with greenway and single‑track trails, scenic quarry swims, and river passages. The trail run courses start at 7:30 AM EDT and finish line festivities extend into the early afternoon. Aid stations, safety gear check, chip timing, athlete briefings, and post-race awards support all participants.
What Makes It Unique
Unlike point-to-point or road races, this event blends natural trail running with open-water swimming in a multi-leg adventure. The half marathon run-only option broadens its appeal to trail runners who prefer a pure run experience, while the swim‑run courses continue to draw multisport enthusiasts pushing their personal limits.
Community & Atmosphere
This event emphasizes the outdoor challenge and camaraderie more than elite competition. It’s ideal for small teams, adventurous individuals, and charity-focused participants. The nature-centered setting delivers a memorable backdrop that differentiates it from urban road races.
