149-racereach_registerSet for its third annual running as summer is turning to fall here in central Arkansas, the Race 13.1 Little Rock Half Marathon, 10K & 5K is set to take runners on an out-and-back tour of the state’s capital city on a course that unfolds largely along the Arkansas River Trail, promising a flat and fast race.

All three races in the event follow out-and-back routes that start and finish on Dean Kumpuris Street, near the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library and Museum that overlooks the river. From there, runners will jump onto the Arkansas River Trail and follow it across the Presidential Park Bridge, into North Little Rock.

Once they’re on the north side of the river, runners will follow the trail — which stretches some 17 miles along the river, and is part of an 88-mile loop trail system here in central Arkansas — all the way northwest along the river, to the half-way turnaround at Goalie Road.

After they make the turn from Catfish Drive and Tournament Drive onto Goalie Road, runners will then follow the trail southeast along the river all the way back to the Presidential Park Bridge, and then over the river a second time to the Clinton Library and Museum, where they’ll cross the finish line back on Dean Kumpuris Street where they started.

Like all Race 13.1 events, runners can expect plenty of well stocked, well-staffed aid stations and lots of enthusiastic course monitors along the way. Runners can expect to have a text message from Race 13.1 with a link to the live results waiting for them when they cross the finish line, along with a post-race party.

As many as 1,500 runners are expected in the half marathon, so runners are encouraged to sign up early.
