Race 13.1’s second race in the Sunshine State – the inaugural Race 13.1 Tallahassee – will take place along with a beautiful, scenic course during a time of year that should bring great weather, and where runners can expect ‘Big Race Perks with a Local Race Feel’ and first in class customer service from the time they register to after they cross the finish line.
The race starts and finishes in Tallahassee’s charming SouthWood community, a location that offers more than 1,000 acres of green space. The flat, looped course features the shaded and picturesque SouthWood Nature Trail, which circles the 123-acre Central Park and Lake at the center of the community, as well as the St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail.
Located in the Florida Panhandle, Tallahassee is a place where college town meets cultural center, politics meets performing arts and history meets nature, a place where the vibrancy of what to do is matched only by the city’s inviting hospitality. With an average temperature in the low 70s in mid-November, this will be an ideal destination with ideal weather to close out the 2015 race season with a flat, fast and beautiful course.
Runners should note that Florida State University will have a home game on Saturday, which will affect hotel availability. Those planning to stay overnight in a hotel prior to the race should be sure to check to view the Tallahassee travel page for hotel suggestions and book early!
All half marathon finishers will be presented a custom finisher medal that is in the spirit of and unique to Tallahassee. The high-quality tech tee shirts that each participant will receive will feature a similar design and will be displayed soon on the Race 13.1 website.
Like all Race 13.1 events, runners can expect plenty of well-stocked, well-staffed aid stations and lots of enthusiastic course monitors along the way. Runners can expect to have a text message from Race 13.1 with a link to the live results waiting for them when they cross the finish line, along with a first class post-race party.
Over 1,500 runners are expected in the half marathon that will start at 7:00am while the 5k and 10k will begin at 7:15am.
