Overview

Saturday, May 21, 2022 • Rhinebeck, NY

Set for its 7th annual running this year along an out-and-back loop course that starts and finishes at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in tiny Rhinebeck, home to just over 2,600 souls here in the Catskills region of New York, the Rhinebeck Hudson Valley Marathon & Half saw just over 120 runners cross the finish line last year in both races combined.

Runners start the race near the corner of Platt Avenue and North Parsonage Street, and from there they head south through the village whose history dates back to 1686, when a group of Dutch settlers crossed over the Hudson River and landed here, purchasing land from the local Iroquois tribe.

After that, they’ll head south along Mill Road for a stretch of the race that will take the field to the banks of the Hudson River. Throughout the middle and later miles of the race, organizers say runners can expect plenty of rolling hills as well as the beautiful scenery of the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains.

There’s a turnaround point between miles 9 and 10, at the intersection of River Road and Mt. Rutsen Road, and then runners head south back into Rhinebeck for the race finish back at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. Organizers say this is one of the most scenic stretches of the race, with gently rolling hills.

Runners in the half marathon will make a single loop around the course, while those running the full marathon will make two loops.
