The race organizers of the RussVegas Half Marathon describe the course as mostly flat with some gentle elevation changes, a great course to set a personal record. But they also state that the event is more than just a half marathon that shows off the sights of Russellville.
It’s a community effort, an encouraging atmosphere, and a festival the night before, featuring a 5K, kids mile, music, expo, and more.
The half marathon course begins bright and early on Saturday morning near the Russellville Downtown Depot, then continues south on Commerce Avenue out of downtown before turning left onto West 8th Street.
The course makes a few more turns through residential neighborhoods over the next mile before heading north on South Phoenix Avenue and heading west onto Main Street, the primary business center of Russellville.
When Main Street meets West Parkway Drive, runners make a sharp turn and head back toward downtown Russellville, turning on to North Phoenix Avenue and making a brief detour through the Arkansas Tech University campus and passing the Tucker Coliseum.
After exiting the campus, the half marathon is almost complete — just a couple more turns onto North Phoenix Avenue and back onto Main Street and the finish line is waiting.
Race Weather & Climate
Located in northwestern Arkansas, Russellville experiences mild weather in the spring, although mornings can be occasionally chilly. Precipitation averages just over 4 inches for the month of April, so prepare to run in any weather.
On race day (Apr. 22), the average low is 50ºF and the average high is 74ºF.
