All events start at SW Naito Parkway and Pine Street in downtown Portland, near Waterfront Park. From there, half marathoners start running with the 15K participants along SW Naito Parkway for the first mile before the 15K runners turn around. Half marathon runners continue down SW Naito Parkway and NW Front Avenue for another two miles before turning around and running toward downtown Portland. The rest of the course weaves through Terwilliger Parkway (and its hills) and back up SW Naito Parkway before finishing near the start line at Waterfront Park.
Make sure to stay for the after-party — finishers get a free beer courtesy of Widmer Brothers (for runners over 21), delicious salmon chowder, and live music to celebrate their finishes. Runners also receive tech shirts and finisher medals (including a bottle opener medal for the half marathon), and the top finishers in each age group receive a commemorative sports bag. If you run really fast and like beer, this is the race for you — the male and female overall winners of each event will win their weight in beer. So start training and maybe that’ll be you.
The half marathon is capped at 3,000 participants and has sold out in the past, so register soon to reserve your spot.
Half Marathon Guide is the largest calendar and educational resource in the world for half marathon runners and enthusiasts with over 10,000,000 annual visitors.
