Overview
This is the 39th running of the Endurance Runs and the 16th for the Trail Half-Marathon. The 50/50 has a rich history as one of the oldest trail runs on the West Coast. Our race was literally founded in the backyard of one our co-founders, Roland Martin, as a way to bring the ultra communities of northern Nevada and northern California together for a day of adventure on Peavine Mountain and the nearby Carson Range followed by food, drink and ample storytelling of the day’s events. We’ve continued to do all we can to keep this “old-school” vibe co-created by Roland alive throughout Silver State’s long history. The 50/50 offers a wide variety of terrain for all types of runners, with plenty of climbing and descending.
Course Description
Our course has enough dirt, rock, pine trees, excellent single track, altitude and exquisite views of the Sierra Nevada and the Truckee Meadows to satisfy the demands of runners who yearn for a fun, challenging day. Both our 50-mile and 50-kilometer races are considered excellent trainers for the Western States 100-miler and the Tahoe Rim Trail 100-miler. Our trail half-marathon provides 13.1 miles of single track, with climbing and descending through some of the most memorable country in the West. No matter what event you choose, you will find a challenging and well-marked course, great volunteers at our aid stations and food and drink at the finish line at Rancho San Rafael Park. We hope that you feel the sense of community that Roland and the early figures of trail running in northern Nevada first established back in 1986. We are deeply appreciative and acknowledge that Silver State is run on the lands of Indigenous People, which includes the Western Shoshone, Northern Paiute and Washoe Tribes.
