Set against Utah’s iconic Wasatch ranges, Run The Skyline offers a breathtaking single-day trail festival featuring four distances—Half Marathon, 30K, Marathon, and 55K—all scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025, starting at 6:00 AM MDT. Hosted high atop the North Ogden Divide, this race series delivers elevation, elite views, and rugged running experiences for serious trail enthusiasts.
Race History & Format
Now in its growing years, Run The Skyline has quickly gained a reputation for technical terrain, alpine vistas, and strong production values. Event size is capped at around 400 entries per distance, ensuring smooth logistics, scenic integrity, and quality trail access.
Course & Runner Experience
All distances begin together at 6:00 AM. The half marathon ascends swiftly along the South Skyline Trail, including steep switchbacks over the first three miles. After cresting at the Lewis Peak Saddle (Aid Station #1), runners enjoy panoramic views over Ogden Valley before transitioning into steep downhill descent toward Windsurfers Beach, then finishing at Eden Park. Aid stations offer hydration, energy chews, snacks, and basic aid at key checkpoints.
What Makes It Unique
Run The Skyline stands apart with its uncompromising terrain: more than 90% rugged single track, nearly 5,000 ft of climbing across the Ultra, and alpine exposure few trail races replicate. Despite the challenge, the event cultures camaraderie and safety—allowing deferrals or transfers, with clear cutoff policies and small field sizes.
Run The Skyline – Trail Running Events is an alpine playground for mountain-minded runners—offering steep climbs, scenic ridgelines, and a challenging ultra or half in small groups under the Ogden sky. Let me know if you’d like runner testimonials or course elevation maps added next!
