Round out your Thanksgiving weekend with an athletic challenge for a worthy cause at the Spring Hill Turkey Burn Half Marathon & 5K. Racers of all ages are invited to attend—there will also be a 1-mile kids’ run held for the youngest participants.
The race is a fundraiser for Tennessee Children’s Home, which provides “safe harbor, treatment, and a Christian environment for displaced families and youth.”
During the half marathon, runners tour the backroads of Maury County and Spring Hill. The course is held on a variety of surfaces including gravel, asphalt, and cement. Both races depart from the start/finish line at Spring Hill High School.
From the starting line, the half marathon course proceeds north toward Jameson for approximately 4 miles before looping back for a different cloverleaf, which takes runners toward Spring Hill Middle School and beyond.
Circling back after mile 8, half marathoners turn toward a victorious finish at the high school from which they started. Overall, the course offers a modest 373 feet of elevation gain, but organizers do note that several sections provide a hilly challenge.
