Then you should sign up for the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer Half Marathon in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois in September 2024. This inspiring event is much more than a half marathon – it’s a community of people united to raise funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital while promoting fitness, hope, and humanity. Starting early in the morning at Illinois Wesleyan University, the course takes you through Bloomington-Normal’s beautiful neighborhoods, past historic landmarks, and across our town’s energetic streets. You can expect to be cheered along the route as you run past Tipton Park and Four Seasons. The course is a runner’s delight with challenging hills, scenic views, and a course time limit of 3.5 hours for those taking on the half marathon distance (a generous limit for runners who wish to take a bit more time).

The Bloomington-Normal area is known for its breathtaking natural beauty. Participants can enjoy the unique geography, including Ewing Park, which is a great place to take a break and soak in the surrounding green scenery. Not too far from the course are several landmarks and local gems like the Miller Park Zoo, the Circus Palace, and the Prairie Aviation Museum, all of which make great pit stops after you’re done running. While the course itself is undoubtedly exciting, the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer Half Marathon is more than that. It’s a cause that can help end childhood cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a not-for-profit organization that is committed to finding cures and saving children’s lives. Your participation and fundraising will help support this mission. Join in person or participate virtually to help beat last year’s record $300,000 raised from last year’s event.
