Part of the RunDisney Race series, the Star Wars™ Half Marathon -Light Side Edition makes it’s annual running in mid-January 2017. Three days of events kicks off with the 5K on Friday, January 13th, followed by the 10K on Saturday, and finishing with the half marathon on Sunday.
Last years running in 2016 saw over 11,600 finishers in the half marathon alone, up from 10,300 in the previous year. The half marathon features a course through Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park. From there, runners will head out on the surrounding streets, finishing at the Disneyland Resort Hotel.
Each race will start at 5:30AM. Runners who are interested in completing both the 10K and half marathon in two consecutive days can sign up for the Rebel Challenge and will receive the Rebel Challenge Finisher Medal upon completion of this 2-day 19.3 mile run.
Finishers of the half marathon will receive their own finishers medal, a long-sleeved tech shirt, offical event guide and virtual goody bag. As of 7/15/16, registration for the half marathon is still open, with the Rebel Challenge, 10K and 5K sold out already.
Participants in the half marathon must be 14 years of age or older, 10 years of age or older for the 10K and 5 years of age on race day to run the 5K. A pace of 16 minutes per mile is required for all athletes in the half marathon, 10K and 5K.
Race Weather & Climate
A city located outside of Los Angeles in southern California, Anaheim sees mild temperatures throughout the winter with precipitation around 2.5 inches a month. January brings average temperatures between 45°F and 69°F, with a record low of 30°F (2002) and a record high of 95°F (2003).
On the day of the race (Jan. 15), the average low is 45°F and the average high is 68°F.
