Runners follow an out-and-back course along the winding Beaver Creek just east of Knoxville at the annual late winter Strawberry Plains Half Marathon & 10K, part of the Knoxville Track Club’s annual wintertime race series known as the High Mileage Winter Series.

Course Description
The race takes runners along the rolling, scenic hills of the Strawberry Plains area just outside Knoxville in eastern Tennessee, through the Holston River Valley and includes views of Clinch and House Mountains. The race starts and finishes at Rush Strong School on Old Andrew Johnson Highway, and is run entirely on paved surfaces.
From there, the course takes runners onto the Old Andrew Johnson Highway, and then onto Big Bend Road and Bluff Road, which run roughly parallel to the creek. After runners hit the half-way turnaround point, they then run in reverse along the same route, all the way back to the school for the race finish.
The course will remain open to traffic during the race, organizers say, and runners will have a course time limit of 3 hours, 15 minutes.
