Tehaleh Trail Half Marathon, 10K & 5K

Saturday, September 21, 2019 • Bonney Lake, WA • Course Map Set for its 7th annual running, this race joins the more than a dozen trail races hosted in the Evergreen Trail Runs and is set to take runners on a loop course along the trail system of Tehaleh, a Newland Communities planned residential community set among the Highland Forest of Pierce County, just outside Seattle. As the race organizers note, Tehaleh features an extensive trail system with plentiful challenges, from rocky terrain to wide-open alpine meadows, as well as wetlands areas and pine forests. Mount Rainier, off about 25 miles in the distance, will also be visible on the trails for much of the race. Along the trails, aid stations will be stocked with water, Nuun, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, Clif bars, and plenty of fruit, cookies and crackers. Tehaleh lies just south of Bonney Lake on Cascadia Boulevard, and runners will park at the elementary school there on the day of the race. All participants are encouraged to arrive early, organizers note, as there will be a walk from the parking area to the race starting line. Race Weather & Climate Located just south of Lake Tapps in northwestern Washington state, about 40 miles southeast of Seattle, Bonney Lake typically sees some of its mildest weather of the year in September, which has brought record temperatures as low as 29°F (in 1972) and as high as 95°F (in 1988).
