Monday, September 5, 2016 • Fort Collins, CO • Course Map

Though the 2015 race was cancelled, the 2016 race is scheduled to take place over Labor Day weekend. The Colorado Run takes place in Fort Collins and offers the distances of 5K, half marathon, and half marathon relay. 2016 will be the 36th year for the run and the 3rd year for the half marathon distance.

The point-to-point course begins at Poudre High School on the west side of Fort Collins. Runners head west on La Porte Avenue during the first mile before making a left on South Overland Trail. The race continues on a loop around Hughes Stadium just past the mile 4 marker–home of the Colorado State University Rams.

After crossing the 5th mile marker, runners head back towards South Overland Trail and go south towards Cottonwood Glen Park. The course takes racers through the perimeter of the park as they finish up mile 8. Upon exiting the park, runners will continue along Spring Creek Trail as they make their way east.

For 5 miles, runners will enjoy the sights of the scenic Spring Creek Trail as they make their way towards the Fort Collins Club. Upon finishing, runners will be able to enjoy some of the amenities available at the Fort Collins Club. They will have a one day pass for a shower, Jacuzzi, outdoor pool, and full bar.

Cash awards are given to the top 3 overall as well as the top master. Age group awards go 3 deep and the top 3 walkers are given awards as well.

Race Weather & Climate

Though temperatures near 80°F as the average high, lows in the low 50’s make for potential great racing conditions. Situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Fort Collins has a semi-arid climate with low humidity and low annual precipitation. With an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, it is more likely you’ll need sunglasses than a rain jacket.

On race day (Sep. 5), the average low is 50ºF and the average high is 79F.
