The half marathon course is an out-and-back race that follows the first 13.1 miles of the marathon. From the starting line on Erie Street in downtown Canal Fulton, runners head southeast along a crushed limestone and blacktop towpath trail until the turnaround at mile 6.5.
Then, they head back to the start/finish line, where half marathoners begin their celebration and marathoners start the second leg of their race, moving north on the Towpath Trail for another 6.5 miles.
Ample aid is provided along the route, with 13 water and porta-potty stops approximately every 2 miles. Gatorade and GU gels will also be offered at key aid stations, as well.
Throughout the race weekend, runners can get into the Halloween spirit, from a race expo held in a (family-friendly) haunted house to the spooky, decorated course.
