Overview

Taking place just before the winter solstice, The Longest Night races are sure to keep you awake and begging for sunrise.

The longer distances—a 50M and 50K—begin in the evening on Saturday and run through the night, while the Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K embark before dawn on Sunday.

Unlike traditional races, The Longest Night is a lap-by-lap elimination event. All races are held on a 1.5-mile grass path loop at the 120-acre Preserve at Lakewood. Runners will tackle a series of loops, with half marathoners completing 9 of them.

Course Description

Runners will get 25 minutes to complete each loop before reconvening to start the next one. While this makes for an attainable half marathon pace, runners in the 50M or 50K events are challenged to complete their laps on time or risk elimination.
The Longest Night races are a chance to camp out overnight in nature with a die-hard community of runners. If you’re running the half marathon, come the night before to cheer on racers, hang out by the fire, and watch the moon rise before setting off on their first lap—at 4:25 AM!
Take Note
While there will be an aid station available at the event, this is a cupless race, so runners are expected to provide their own hydration vessel.
