Marks the return of the Traverse Mountain Half Marathon, a boutique pavement race hosted by Happy Trails Running that winds through Highland City along scenic trails with view rewards and small‑field charm.
Course & Runner Experience
The race launches at 8:00 AM MDT from Mitchell Hollow Park, sending runners onto a paved out‑and‑back route using the Murdock Canal Trail and Utah Rail Trail. Enjoy sweeping vistas of Mount Timpanogos, Lone Peak, and the expansive Wasatch Front before turning at Shadow Ridge Park and retracing the picturesque route. The total elevation gain is modest +506 ft over 13.1 miles—with only gentle rolling terrain.
Support is thoughtfully spaced via aid stations every 2–3 miles offering water, Tailwind hydration, fruit, Honey Stinger snacks, and even fun treats like Swedish Fish or Nerd Clusters. There’s no cutoff time—walkers and slow starters are welcome.
What Makes It Unique
Happy Trails Running has built a reputation for small, thoughtfully managed races—this half is capped under 300 runners, custom U.S.-made medals, high-quality shirts, free breakfast (Great Harvest pastries and drinks), and race photos without watermarks. As one Reddit runner put it:
“It’s a small local rave with only about 150 runners total. It’s mostly on a river parkway … twenty minutes south of Salt Lake City.”
This is trail access turned road-run, perfect for those who value beauty, low stress, and performance without sacrifice.
