The Tri-State Warrior Run/Walk, 5K, 10K & Half Marathon is held in October in Quincy, Illinois. The race features a 1-mile walk, 5k, 10k, and half marathon. There are virtual options for each race, and runners can submit their times between 6 am and 11:30 pm on race day. Finishers receive dog tag-style medals.
Early registrants get T-shirts. Late registration is available for the Tri-State Warrior Run/Walk, but day-of registration is prohibited.
Participants are asked to line up at 7:45 am, and the events start at 8:00 am. The Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and all walkers begin at the Start/Finish line behind the Administration Building. The course loops through Sunset Cemetery, the Medal of Honor Memorial, and the Cedar Creek Trail.
The proceeds go towards Tri-State Warrior Outreach, an organization that supports veterans and their families.

Join us for the annual Tri-State Warrior Run/Walk, 5K, 10K & HALF MARATHON on October 29, 2023, as we return to the historic IL Veterans Home in Quincy, IL, for a memorable event that benefits the Tri-State Warrior Outreach. Supporting the unmet needs of area Veterans and their families since 2012, this family-oriented run promises a day filled with camaraderie and support.
The 1 Mile Walk, 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon will commence and conclude on the picturesque grounds of the IL Veterans Home, established in 1886. Participants will traverse extraordinary architecture, serene woods, the Deer Park, US Military memorials, and pass by the inspirational Avenue of Flags. The 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon routes present challenges, guiding runners along hills through Sunset Cemetery and the Medal of Honor Memorial before reaching the Cedar Creek Trail. The course then loops back around the IL Veterans Home grounds, finishing behind the Administration building. Every event finisher will receive traditional dog tag-style medals.
New this year is the return of virtual options for the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon. Virtual runners can submit their times between 6 am and 11:30 pm on race day, receiving a shirt and medal if registered by October 20, 2023.
Chip timing will enhance the race experience, but participants in the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon should be aware that routes cross railroad tracks at the IL Veterans Home, and unexpected breaks may occur if a train passes through. Late October weather in West Central IL can vary, so keep an eye on local forecasts leading up to the race. Regardless of the temperature, running at Mays Park and the historic IL Veterans Home – the oldest in the U.S. – promises a beautiful experience.
Secure your preferred shirt size by registering online before October 20, 2023. Online registration closes at midnight on October 26, 2023. For packet pickup and late registration, visit Running Wild at 3502 Broadway in Quincy, IL, on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 10 am to 5 pm. No race-day registration is available, but remaining packets can be picked up in the IL Veterans Home shelter house starting at 7:15 am.
Race day festivities kick off with participants lining up at 7:45 am, with events starting at 8:00 am. The Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and all walkers will commence at the Start/Finish line behind the Administration Building.
Additional parking is available by the Administration Building off the 12th St entrance and south of the main drive at the parking lot across from Lake Illinois. Please refrain from parking on the Veterans Home roads.
