Take a run through the scenic, pastoral Trout Lake Valley in southern Washington State at the Trout Lake Run, a half-marathon, 10K & 5K running event that starts and finishes at Trout Lake School — where you’ll be able to shower after your run if you like.

The out-and-back loop course for the 13.1 miles of the half marathon includes plenty of water along the way, as runners follow portions of the course along the banks of Trout Creek and cross the White Salmon River, all while running in the shadow of nearby Mount Adams, a 12,276-ft. mountain that provides grand views for participants throughout the race.

The race is a fundraiser for the Trout Lake School’s graduating class, and covers mostly relatively flat terrain throughout the course — the course starts and finishes at about 1,900 feet above sea level. The race is also run entirely on paved surfaces, and race organizers describe the views as “incredible.”

Runners start the race at Trout Lake School along Highway 141, and from there head north and east along a counter-clockwise loop route through the Trout Lake Valley. They’ll head as far south as the first turnaround point near Stoller Canyon, and then north along the White Salmon River to Sunnyside Road, where they’ll spend much of the second half of the race.

Organizers say they plan to have four water stations out on the course for the half marathon, so plan to bring along your own water bottle in case you need more hydration during the race.
