activeregisterSettled in the quaint town of Lehi, Utah, is Thanksgiving Point, a community famed for its Utah County outdoor events. The area is home to several festivals including the Scottish Festival, Tulip Festival as well as the town’s annual half marathon.

The city’s half marathon is part of a series of races that also include a one-mile fun run for kids and the 5K distance. The race winds in and out of Thanksgiving Point and the course tackles several hills. The hilly terrain and narrow pathways have caused the event to limit any wheeled conveyances.

The starting line of the race is at the Thanksgiving Point water tower right in the center of town near Electric Park. Runners briefly race through the downtown area of Thanksgiving Point before participants are sent through winding trails along the Thanksgiving Point golf course, where runners can expect a few moderate hills to start the race off.

The route then leads runners through the beautiful Thanksgiving Point Gardens and The Children’s Discovery Gardens, and along a series of flat trails. The race is held at the peak of the annual Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival, so runners are able to enjoy the gardens in full bloom as they wind through this beautiful area of the course.

This is often considered the most popular portion of the race. After the gardens, participants will also be sent through more trails right along the bank of the Jordan River.

Finally, runners will wind through several turns and a few more slight hills as they make it through the local Willow Park as they enjoy more of the famed outdoor areas of Thanksgiving Point.

From the Willow Park trails the route opens up and leads participants back through the main part of town and back to the central location of Electric Park and the course finish line.
