Take a run through one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth — a place where east meets west along the Hrazdan River, framed by the extinct volcanic peaks of Mount Ararat to the south and Mount Aragats and Mount Azhdaak to the north — at this autumn half marathon, timed to coincide with one of the best times to visit the Armenian capital city.
Start and finish near Republic Square. You’ll follow an out-and-back course for the half marathon, much of which will take you past several of the city’s many parks that it’s famous for, including Circular Park in the Kentron district, in the city’s dense center.
Along the way you’ll pass by Republic Square, which took roughly 50 years to build, on the way out past the park, where you’ll pass by a number of historic sculptures as you run along Isahakyan Street, and then later out toward the Hrazdan River gorge, where you’ll run along both sides of the river.
That long out-and-back is followed by a run almost the entire way around Republic Square, before bringing you across the finish line next to Shahumyan Park.
In addition to the half marathon and the full marathon, the race will also host an 11.5K and 5K distance races, as well as a 1K kids race for children 3 to 12 years old. (The 11.5K welcomes runners 16 years old and older, while the 5K is open to kids as young as 13.)
