Details
One of South Carolina's marquee running events (and part of its
Palmetto Grand Prix and Tour de Columbia race events) the Governor's
Cup Road Race features a series of events over the weekend, including
the half marathon, an 8K run, a 4-mile walk and a kids' fun run. The
course for the half is described by organizers as scenic with plenty of
"rolling terrain," as the city is known for its hills, and includes an
uphill finishing stretch.
Run entirely along paved surfaces, the Governor's Cup half-marathon
starts downtown near the South Carolina State House, taking runners on
a tour of the city through historic neighborhoods such as Five Points
and Shandon, and ends at the University of South Carolina "horseshoe"
area.
