1) All the food

Long run = calories burned. There is some sort of justification that spending two hours running equates an entire pizza and the better half of a six-pack of beer. But I haven’t even touched my basal metabolic rate!

2) Bragging on social media

“I ran 10 miles this morning. It was totes ah-mazing and I have so much energy now. I cannot wait to run 12 miles next week. I’m so ready for my half-marathon next month. I love running.”

3) Humblebragging on social media

“I ran 10 miles this morning. It was so difficult and I’m sitting in an ice bath now. 12 miles is going to be brutal next week. I have no idea if I’m ready for my half-marathon next month. But, I love running.”

4) No one can bother you

Strange how you can hear your phone buzz and beep in the strangest crevices, but it is so quiet during a long run. If you need an excuse to zone out from the real world for a couple of hours, the long run will cover for you. Sorry bossman, I didn’t realize you needed me to send that TPS report this weekend. I was RUNNING!

5) A one-day pass to Lazyville

But I ran for hours this morning! How can I do anything else besides lay on the sofa? Did you hear me? Hours!
