6 New Year’s Races for Every Distance

1) Millennium Mile • Londonderry, NH

This point-to-point, net downhill race is a fast and fun way to begin the new year. Held at 2:00 p.m. on New Year’s Day, runners will fly down a single paved stretch without any turns to hold them back.

Cash awards are offered to the top 3 male and female finishers as well as the first runners to reach the ¼ mile, ½ mile, and ¾ mile mark. $100 bonus for males breaking 4:00 and females breaking 4:30, plus a $500 bonus for a course record.

2) NYRR Midnight Run • New York, NY

The NYRR Midnight Run is more like a 4 mile party around Central Park in the city that never sleeps. Runners will follow the inner loop beginning at 11:59 PM with 15 minutes worth of fireworks to jump start the race. Cash prizes are awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers and bonus cash can be earned by those breaking the course record.

3) New Year’s Resolution Race • Flint, MI

Get started on your resolution a bit early by participating in the 8K New Year’s Resolution Race on December 31st. Starting at 2:00 p.m., runners will still have plenty of time to get ready for their evening parties.

This hometown race takes runners through the residential streets of Pierce Park and East Village. $25 before December 24th pays for a hooded sweatshirt and the entry fee and it’s only $10 for those who opt out of the sweatshirt.

4) New Year’s Double Marathon & Half Marathon • Allen, TX

The same courses are offered on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day and runners have the option of choosing a 5K, half marathon, and a full marathon. Runners who opt to participate on both day will receive two different medals and an extra plate to attach both pieces of hardware.

The half marathon consists of two out-and-backs of a 6.55 mile jaunt that starts and finishes in Celebration Park. It’s a sellout race every year!

5) I Ran Marathons New Year’s Day • San Antonio, TX

Featuring 13 days of races, runners have the option of choosing a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or full marathon for 13 consecutive days. There is a 50K option on two of the days. The New Year’s Day full marathon is the perfect way to get started on a new year. Runners will complete 8 out-and-back sections of the Leon Creek Greenway to total 26.2 miles.

6) New Year’s One Day • San Francisco, CA

Run from one year to the next during the New Year’s One Day. This 24-hour timed race is a perfect way to ring in the new year by seeing the sunset and sunrise all in the same run. Racers will follow a 1.065 mile course around the lagoon at Crissy Field and enjoy beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay.
