The 13th Annual Alzheimer’s Half Marathon returns to Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday, August 16, 2025—part of a trio that also includes a 5K and team relay—all supporting the Alzheimer’s Association. Since launching in 2013 with just over 120 participants raising $2,400, the event has steadily grown: recent editions have welcomed ~330 runners and raised more than $20,400 in 2024—bringing total contributions close to \$100,000 over its history.
The half begins promptly at 7:30 AM CDT from Heritage Trail Pond on Highway 52, following a flat, crushed-limestone out-and-back route. Runners head west for 5 miles, return to the pond, then continue with a blacktop 5K loop—culminating in a full 13.1 miles with only ~110 ft of elevation gain. The scenic, accessible course is sprinkled with six aid stations offering water, Gatorade, snacks, and enthusiastic support.
A team relay option splits the half into three legs (6.4 mi, 3.6 mi, 3.1 mi), ideal for group participation—relay teams must register by August 9. Awards and medals are provided for top overall and age-group finishers; records even earn gift cards.
