Overview

Hosted by Brazen Racing in scenic Briones Regional Park (Lafayette, CA), the Bear Creek Trail Half Marathon—scheduled for Saturday, August 9, 2025—is no place for speed seekers. Instead, it’s a celebration of trail endurance, community spirit, and raw nature. Now part of Brazen’s Ultra Half Series, each course often exceeds the half distance and comes with serious climbs and descents.

The route is mostly fire roads punctuated by a scenic mile-long shaded single‑track through redwoods. Expect rugged terrain, rolling hills, and varied elevation—notably challenging but visually rewarding . Four well-positioned aid stations (approx. every 3–5 miles) provide water, sports drink, gels, pretzels, and candy, with cut-offs that encourage a strong but safe pace.

Participants start at 7:30 AM (hiker division begins at 6:30 AM) and have 4.5 hours to complete the course, including intermediate checkpoints—this race is about perseverance as much as pace. Finishers are rewarded with a custom finisher medal, gender-specific technical or cotton tee, age-group awards (3-deep in 5-year increments), and complimentary race photos.

Volunteers ensure safe and clear navigation, while organizers welcome hikers and remote runners in a laid-back yet well-structured event ([aravaiparunning.com][4]). Parking is \$3 in-park, and day-of registration opens at 6:45 AM.

Course Description

Each course includes a very short section of paved trail (about 2-300 yards) with the majority of the courses being on fire roads. All courses will finish along a 1.10 mile stretch of beautiful and very well shaded single track.

The half marathon and 10K courses will be single loops.

The 5K course is a single loop that includes one out-and-back section. This course will include a steady, but not too steep, increase in elevation during the first half, and end with rolling hills down through the single track section.
