The 13.1 mile loop of the Berkeley Half Marathon features some of Berkeley’s most iconic spots. Runners will cruise over Telegraph Avenue, through the historic UC Berkeley campus, around hip neighborhoods, and along the waterfront.
The course begins and ends at the Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park in the heart of Berkeley. Runners will travel south through the first mile as they make their way through the streets of South Berkeley. As runners get close to the 2nd mile marker, they will begin to see the sights of UC Berkeley. This section of the course takes runners right through campus and routes them into the Normandy Village neighborhood.
Racers will head north along Shattuck Avenue and will cross over the 4th mile marker before turning onto Mariposa Avenue. Once at Marin Avenue, the course veers left and then continues along Monterey Avenue until reaching Hopkins Street. At the intersection of Gilman Street, the course veers right and runners will approach the 6th mile marker.
