Fast & Flat
Oceanfront
High: 80°
/ Low: 60°

The mild ocean breezes and flat, forgiving terrain of the Southern California farmland areas just outside Los Angeles form the backdrop for the race route at the Camarillo Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K, which marks its 13th annual running in 2024 along a route that starts and finishes at the city’s Freedom Park, not far from its airport.

Designed as a fundraiser for the local chapter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the race is described by organizers as “all flat and blazing fast,” with stretches through the city’s famous strawberry fields and with views of the nearby Conejo Mountains.

From the Village at the Park Sports Field, runners head away from the park and turn right, heading south on the Camarillo Bike Path. Runners reach the first turnaround point on the bike path right around mile one, then retrace their steps up the bike path. This time, however, the course continues north along the bike path until reaching Upland Road. That’s where runners turn around and head back south toward the finish line–but they’re not done yet. Half marathoners complete one more lap of the course before crossing the finish line, while full marathoners complete three more loops. Participants in the full marathon — which is a Boston qualifier — complete two laps of this fast and flat course. The race organizers recommend the race for runners of all levels, from walkers (with a 7 hour limit for the full marathon) to middle of the pack runners seeking a personal record to elite athletes.
