The Half-Boring Half Marathon takes place as an out-and-back course on the Springwater Trail, a paved rails-to-trails conversion that follows a former train line from Boring to Portland. Expect to find a mostly-flat course with a few gentle hills along the way.
Though the full marathon crosses roadways at several key points, both the half marathon and 8K are free from vehicular traffic. (The course will still be open to other bikers and pedestrians, however.)
Along the course, aid stations are approximately every 2 miles. Water and gatorade are offered at each, and porta potties are available at key intervals. To bolster morale, organizers offer an award for the Best Aid Station—the 2021 winners went with a flamingo theme.
