The half marathon consists of 3 loops of 4.36 miles on the Coney Island Beach boardwalk, combining the flat and fast experience of a road race with ample sea breezes. Runners begin to the east, proceeding along the Riegelmann Boardwalk past Coney Island icons, including Luna Park amusement park and the New York Aquarium.
The first U-turn, after 1.5 miles on the course, takes runners back to the start/finish line. There, 5K participants finish their race. Half marathon runners continue west for another 1.5 miles along the boardwalk, taking a U-turn at the water table to embark on their next loop.
Ample water station support is offered during the race. Runners will pass by 12 opportunities to pick up water, electrolyte drinks, and sports gels. For those running with a full bladder, never fear. The course loops by the start/finish porta-potties, as well as numerous public restrooms.
Finishers are well rewarded for their efforts, enjoying Brooklyn’s best bagels as part of their post-race refreshments. Mid-race pictures and videos are taken at the completion of each loop and available at the end of the race.
