Bigfoot Running Company brings the spirit of Día de los Muertos to life with the Day of the Dead Half Marathon – Dallas in a location set in a stunning Dallas-area park, weaving through marigold-scented trails, lakesides, and wooded greenways.
History & Theme
As part of a Texas-wide Day of the Dead series, this half marathon joins sister events in San Antonio, Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin—all curated by Bigfoot Racing to blend run-quality, community celebration, and festive traditions (costume contest included). Runners from past years praise the design that deeply reflects both memory and nature.
Course & Experience
The half marathon sets out at 8:00 AM CDT, alongside shorter distances including quarter marathon (6.55 mi), 5K, 1-mile, and a Kids Dash beginning around 7:55 AM. The course is flat to gently rolling and entirely on paved park roads surrounded by forest and water—ideal for both pace runners and costumed fun participants. Aid stations provide fluids and encouragement against the beautiful fall backdrop.
What Sets It Apart
This is more than a race: it’s a vibrant tribute to life and memory. Come dressed—for comfort or flair—there’s a costume contest, traditional motifs, and a communal vibe that’s uniquely Texan. Top finishers in all age groups earn awards, prizes, and the chance to share in post-race festivities with marigold décor and music infused with cultural resonance.
