Bigfoot Running Company returns to the festive tradition with the Day of the Dead Half Marathon at Farrington Field and surrounding park trails. This is a celebration of life, color, and endurance blending deep cultural homage with polished race-day execution.
Event Format & Experience
At 8:00 AM CDT, participants embark on the Half Marathon (13.1 mi), alongside beginner-friendly options like the 1 Mile, 5K, Quarter Marathon (6.55 mi), and a Kids Dash for youngsters opening at 7:55 AM. The course follows flat, paved park trails shaded by mature trees and dotted with lakeside views—ideal for both costumed runners and pace-focused racers.
What Sets It Apart
Costume is king: runners are encouraged to dress in Día de los Muertos attire, with a competitive pre-race costume contest judged on creativity and authenticity. Awards include Bigfoot Trophies for overall winners, plus age-group medals and pins. All finishers receive vibrant shirts, high-quality medals, live race photography, and post-race refreshments under a festive rally tent.
A sense of community pervades—from support stations to pre-race DJ announcements and local food offerings—this event fuses culture, fitness, and festivity into a uniquely Texan experience.
